Shiny Patent Leather Took Center Stage on the Last Day of Paris Fashion Week

Showgoers closed out fashion month on a high-gloss note.

On the final day of Paris Fashion Week, the street style crowd swarmed from the Chanel beach to Louis Vuitton's futuristic runway at the Louvre in lustrous leather apparel. Though more appropriately dressed for Nicolas Ghesquière's space-like tube than Karl Lagerfeld's sandy front row, showgoers embraced the shiny, super-fun fabric in the form of cool high-waisted trousers, oversize blazers, "Matrix"-inspired trenches, puff-sleeve bombers and even a button-down maxi dress.

Slick patent leather has been making an appearance on runways, in street style and on Insta-babes like Bella Hadid for a few seasons now, proving its longevity. This season, however, the sleek statement pieces showcased their versatility, as fashion week attendees dressed them down with denim flares, simple knits and combat boots or dressed them up with bright-patterned skirts and sky-high stilettos.
