In the decades since he was first introduced to the world in 1928, Mickey Mouse has become perhaps the most recognizable cartoon character on the planet. Having appeared in TV shows, comic strips, on lunch boxes and in fine art, Mickey is now going to grace a capsule collection by Rag & Bone, which is partnering with Disney to celebrate the character's 90th birthday.
The capsule features a range of Rag & Bone's best-selling unisex pieces, updated to include Mickey Mouse references. Those references include literal imagery of the mouse himself, as well as bold color blocking, which Rag & Bone described as "Mickey's signature color palette" in a release.
"Beginning with original sketches from the Mickey Mouse archives, the capsule reimagines his heritage with a New York sensibility," the brand explained.
The capsule collection's accompanying campaign features an assortment of hip young models wearing Mickey Mouse sweaters and traipsing about New York, seemingly underscoring that this collection is meant to be less "family vacation" than "downtown cool." The capsule follows in the footsteps of a 2017 collaboration Rag & Bone did with Disney around the film "Star Wars: The Last Jedi."
