I'm not a sheet mask snob: If it exists and costs less than $5, it's going on my face. I'm way more picky when it comes to everything else I put on my skin. But then I was given a slightly-more-expensive sheet mask by MAGICSTRIPES — specifically the brand's Deep Detox Tightening Mask — to try, and my low-budget approach to sheet-masking has changed. I would now spend $18 on one.
The claims associated with the clay-infused mask sound lofty: It's supposed to remove blackheads, refine pores and smooth fine lines, as well as tighten the skin. That seemed like an ambitious undertaking for a 30-minute treatment, but it didn't disappoint. The mask delivered a refreshing, cooling sensation that was unlike anything I've experienced with any skin-care product before. It was as if my head was transported to a spa, while the rest of my body was stuck in the reality of my cramped apartment.
After one treatment, I noticed that my complexion appeared dewy and glowy in the way that's normally only achieved through vacationing, pregnancy or being born as Meghan Markle. I'm not quite ready, financially speaking, to commit to solely using this sheet mask; but I definitely look forward to treating myself to it every once in a while.
