On Sunday evening, celebrities piled on patterns and vibrant colors to attend Versace's first-ever pre-collection runway show in New York. Though their ensembles were not quite as exaggerated as some of the amplified hair styles that went down the runway, the star-studded guest list managed to give plenty of sartorial nods to the Italian fashion house's heritage of excess.
Kim Kardashian West wore a sparkly custom-made chainmail Versace minidress with a low-cut cowl neck — perhaps inspired by her younger sister or her former boss, Paris Hilton — which she accompanied with a pair of transparent PVC pumps. Her husband, Kanye West, went the more casual route and opted for a tailored overcoat, navy track pants and some chunky sneakers.
Then there were those who went extra heavy on the prints and highlighter hues: Teyana Taylor chose a bold, fully printed Versace look from the Spring 2019 collection, which consisted of a sheer blouse and leggings (both embroidered with Swarovski crystal floral embellishments), a leather mini-skirt and a coordinating floral print bra top. Similarly, Lupita Nyong'o arrived in a multicolored letter-print look comprised of a coordinating mini skirt, sweater vest and cardigan from the brand's Resort 2019 range. 2 Chainz power clashed in a plaid look from the Spring 2019 line, while Young Thug threw a patent slime green leather coat from that same collection over his printed trousers and called it a day.
On the more glamorous end of the style spectrum, Tracee Ellis Ross wore a blue velvet bodycon dress from the Fall 2018 men's runway show, with Swarovski crystal accents on the bust, Versace jewelry and coordinating heels. Blake Lively somewhat twinned with Kim Kardashian West in a vintage silver chainmail dress from label's Spring 1999 line.
