For those who delight in the fantasy side of couture, Giambattista Valli consistently delivers. For him, there's no limit to the amount of tulle, pink, volume or girly frothiness one collection can contain, and that was especially true of the Spring 2019 couture collection he showed in Paris Monday evening.

There was a clear '80s tinge to this range (a trend that's going nowhere), seen in oversize bow details, massive sleeve and shoulder silhouettes, a chic black take on cowboy boots and super-short hemlines, even on many of the unabashedly glamorous evening gowns, done in Valli's beloved mullet-hem silhouette — which somehow doesn't feel tired under his purview.

Seeing the models in those dresses buoyed the collection's sexy, party-ready attitude; it was as if they were all headed to some unimaginably chic Parisian fête in a bygone decade. In reality, many of these show-stopping gowns are surely headed to a number of top Hollywood stylists. Valli's pink-pouf tulle gowns, of which there were many, are always a hit on the red carpet, though celebrities have been playing pretty it safe during awards season thus far — hopefully someone is itching to have a little fun.
