It's official, folks: Awards season has arrived! On Sunday evening, it kicked off with the Golden Globe Awards, hosted by the delightful duo of Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh. But they weren't the only high point of the evening; the red carpet was pretty damn delightful, too.
Amidst a sea of bows and a beautiful tribute to the Hollywood glamour of yesteryear, stars — from both film and TV, this is the Globes! — gave us plenty of beauty looks worth taking a moment to appreciate.
One major trend of the evening was colorful eye makeup: Lili Reinhart rimmed her eyes in a blurred, beautiful shade of red that perfectly matched both her tulle gown and the carpet itself. Lupita Nyong'o, never one to disappoint on the beauty front, coated her lashes in cobalt-blue mascara — which also happened to be the same shade as her Calvin Klein gown. (We will now be adding cobalt-blue mascara to our beauty wish lists.) Emmy Rossum went for a subtler take on the monochrome effect, mimicking the blush shade of her dress with a soft halo of the same hue on her lids. But it was Camilla Belle who wore the most impactful take on this trend: Makeup artist Hung Vanngo put his expertise to use creating a smoked-out, electric-teal smoky eye in an elongated almond shape.
The drama wasn't reserved entirely for the makeup, though. Several standout hair looks made for attention-stealing red carpet moments, as well. Lady Gaga, for example, arrived with an updo of pale blue hair — reminiscent of Cinderella and the "Easter Egg" hair from the Spring 2019 Marc Jacobs show. Stars like Indya Moore and Thandie Newton (shown above) embraced voluminous styles you'll want to add to your hair inspiration mood board immediately. (You do have one of those, right?)
