It is the second half of February, which means we've been living in winter long enough to start really wishing it was over, but we're still a ways out from spring showing up in earnest. It's at this point in the year that anything reminding us of heat starts to seem appealing. And if their wardrobe choices this week were any indication, maybe the stars really are just like us in at least this way: A surprising number of celebs opted for fiery colors like bright orange, brilliant red or hot pink, fully disregarding the cooler tones on the color wheel in favor of warming things up a bit.
Zendaya and Gemma Chan both chose to go for all-over red, the former in a dramatic Alex Mabille gown with an oversized bow, and the latter in a Monse number from the label's Pre-Fall collection. Alexa Chung incorporated red and hot pink in a two-tone Emilia Wickstead creation, while Kelly Rowland opted for a shiny pink dress from Georgian designer Keti Chkhikvadze. Tess Holliday and Kiki Layne both donned floral frocks with hits of gold and yellow, and Yalitza Aparicio did all-over gold in a gown from The Vampire's Wife. And let's not forget Ava DuVernay, who could've stopped traffic in her safety-hazard-orange Prada dress.
