So, I think I want a bucket hat? Like, really badly? I've been contemplating this accessory choice for some time — as soon as they started popping up among the menswear street style crowd in Paris last year — and now I've finally caved. All thanks to Maria Grazia Chiuri, randomly, who sent every single model down the runway in the throwback style for Dior's Fall 2019 collection.
Plus, while covering fashion week in New York and Milan, I saw a good amount of showgoers sporting the '90s-era accessory. Some were covered in designer-name logos, others were made of leopard print fur — and I wanted each and every single one. Even Tom Ford (unofficially) paid homage to Jamiroquai with fuzzy wide-brim hats, and now I'm fawning over this faux fur version from Emma Brewin. What is happening?
Obviously I'm not dropping hundreds of dollars on a bucket hat that I might stop wearing after a few seasons, so I need to start with something simple, like this one from Hat Attack in a black washed cotton. I can already see myself toting it around for weekend adventures in the city in the spring, beach trips in the summer and, hey, maybe even next season's circuit of fashion shows.
