Ever since announcing her engagement to Prince Harry, the world's eyes have been fixed on Meghan Markle — and her style. We'll be following the Meghan Markle Effect with our column, "Meghan Markle Wore a Thing."

The fashion industry may be in full-on peacock mode as fashion month has begun in earnest on the streets of New York, but Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle is making sure there's still plenty of style inspiration out there for those less inclined toward flashiness. On Thursday evening in London, England, the Duchess appeared at an awards ceremony for the Endeavour Fund, an organization that celebrates the achievements of injured servicepeople who use sports as part of their recovery, with her husband Prince Harry.

For the red-carpet occasion, the Duchess relied on one of her favorite designers, Clare Waight Keller of Givenchy, for a custom look made of a white button-up top and a high-waisted, wraparound pencil skirt with a high slit. Paired with a silk clutch from Givenchy, gold and black heels from Aquazzura and stud earrings by Vanessa Tugendhaft, the look was elegant and understated. For any expecting mom who's felt sentenced to flowy dresses, consider this proof that a baby bump need not be a reason to avoid figure-hugging clothing.
