Ever since announcing her engagement to Prince Harry, the world's eyes have been fixed on Meghan Markle — and her style. We'll be following the Meghan Markle Effect™ with our column, "Meghan Markle Wore a Thing."
It's been a busy week for Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, in terms of public appearances: On Wednesday, she paid her first visit as Patron to the National Theatre in London wearing a Brandon Maxwell dress and jacket, and then on Thursday, she bundled up in a black Givenchy coat to visit the Association of Commonwealth Universities in London. Friday brought yet another outing for the Royals, when the Duchess of Sussex and her Duke (that would be Prince Harry) visited Bristol, England to "meet members of the public, learn more about the city's rich cultural history, and visit organisations supporting communities most in need," according to a tweet from Kensington Palace.
The couple took time to meet with fans on the street — snow flurries be damned — and so they were appropriately outfitted for the weather. The Duchess wore a printed, long-sleeved Oscar de la Renta midi dress, which she layered beneath a cozy black coat from William Vintage. The real (weather-appropriate) show-stealer of the look was a pair of olive-green, knee-high boots by Sarah Flint — perfect for greeting the public and adorable groups of bundled-up children in their snow-ready finest.
The Duchess also changed up her hair, which she's spent most of the week wearing in a variety of chic updos and sleek buns, on Friday: She wore loose waves and a deep side part that made us want to plug in our curling iron immediately.
