We're more than halfway through New York Fashion Week's Fall 2019 season, and it's clear that designers aren't sticking to their usual autumnal palette of coffee-colored neutrals. Instead, they've ushered in a literal golden age, complete with gilded gowns and brocade suits. The luminous, rich-looking shade has made several appearances across labels like Ulla Johnson, Ralph Lauren and Brock Collection, proving that extravagance is alive and well.

At Ulla Johnson, there was a lustrous gold velvet tiered dress, along with a glistening, gilded evening skirt. This sort of sartorial alchemy continued at Brock Collection, with a romantic strapless gown and ruffled top-and-skirt set that looked as if they were made out of the finest crushed gold. Ralph Lauren went full glitz and glam with a shimmering, pleated V-neck dress and some jazzy gold pants. He also showed a series of belts and bags done in the precious metal. Cushnie and Jonathan Simkhai joined the gold rush as well, but toned down the opulence by employing the glimmering hue on more playful and fluid silhouettes, like a silky, ruched scarf dress.

So, there you have it: Plenty of runway proof that golden apparel might just replace your monochromatic palette of boring beige come fall. See it all below.
