Following two successful runs for Fall 2017 and Spring 2018, British designer JW Anderson and Japanese retail chain Uniqlo took a one-season break from their collaborative union, but luckily for that union's many fans, it's back for Spring 2019.
Designer Jonathan Anderson's subtly nautical, preppy vision for Uniqlo feels particularly well-suited for spring and summer, anyway. For this go-around, Anderson sought to put together items that symbolize British fashion for men and women (think trench coats, bomber jackets and rugby shirts) alongside the wardrobe staples one expects to find in a Uniqlo.
"I envision a summer wardrobe that could be relaxed and chic at the same time; a versatile and youthful collection," Anderson said in a statement.
There are an abundance of striped tees and button-downs for both genders, while women also get paisley blouses, dresses and skirts, Peter Pan-collared blouses, drawstring shorts, a great reversible trench and lightweight scarves. Men also have a number of strong, reversible outerwear options, seersucker blazers, some relaxed pants and cool striped socks. Accessories include a reversible tote, a striped backpack and, of course, a bucket hat.
Perhaps aiming for a setting with warm weather for these summer-y pieces, Uniqlo will launch the collection with an event in Los Angeles on Thursday night.
