Lizzie Fortunato is a NYC-based accessories line that produces high-end jewelry and leather goods and is distributed at more than 70 retailers; the company was inducted into the CFDA in 2015. Lizzie Fortunato has been featured in Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, Vogue, and has been worn by Anne Hathaway, Jessica Alba, Julianne Moore, Rosie Huntington-Whitley, and Leandra Medine. Lizzie Fortunato also operates a direct lifestyle channel “Fortune Finds” that features one-of-a-kind home-wares alongside curated lifestyle and art pieces.

Lizzie Fortunato is hiring a NYC-based Design & Production Coordinator who will A) assist with the design team on new product spec’ing and development, B) be directly involved in managing the sampling process for new collections, C) work with the production manager to ensure that seasonal collections are produced in an effective and timely manner.

Primary Responsibilities:

Assist the design team on new product conception and development:

  • Assist the design team with identifying trends and seasonal silhouettes
  • Help the design team create an assortment that fills “holes” and demand so that seasonal collections are as well-received and profitable as possible
  • Assist with creating specs (in Adobe Photoshop) that effectively show scale, details, and construction information for both jewelry and leather goods
  • Hand off specs to both domestic and international vendors, and communicate with said vendors to ensure that designs are accurately sampled per the design team’s specs

Closely work with the design team to manage the sampling process:

  • Work closely with international vendors to ensure that new samples are received in time for seasonal collection photo shoots
  • Visit domestic vendors in midtown frequently during the sampling period (the 6 weeks leading up to fashion / market week) to ensure samples are made correctly and efficiently
  • Communicate with domestic vendors in midtown regarding production pricing and negotiate (and / or adjust designs) to achieve pricing that is feasible for the wholesale assortment
  • Source materials for new samples (online, internationally, and locally) so that new designs can be made to reflect the design team’s vision with materials that will be available in bulk production
  • Add all new samples and designs to the company database and record the costs, materials, and labor details associated with new designs (i.e.: assist with accurately pricing the collection)

  • $40k annual starting salary, with meaningful growth potential based on performance
