The Fall 2019 runway shows in New York, London, Milan and Paris certainly gave us a lot to think about, from new trends and designer debuts to surprising changes in direction and touching tributes. Our opinions, however, are not as consequential as those of the buyers — the people who decide which looks from which brands end up in their stores and e-commerce sites. So, as we do each and every season, we reached out to a few of the world's most influential luxury retailers to find out which shows struck a chord, and which pieces had the necessary commercial appeal to become big hits with their customers.
Isabel Marant, who always knows how to churn out cool, wearable hits, was a popular choice, as was Paco Rabanne, who's also been getting lots of influencer love lately. Lanvin's new designer got a vote of confidence, as did Hedi Slimane's sophomore Celine collection, which was sophisticated and ideal for everyday staples — if you're in the right income bracket, that is. Overall, Parisian designers got a lot more love than those from any other city.
