Snakeskin is still trending, folks. I didn't think this would be the case when it first slithered onto the scene in a number of Fall 2018 collections, but alas, the exotic animal pattern is everywhere. I tried to avoid it, and I thought that after seeing it on every influencer, editor, model, friend and style-conscious subway goer, that I would tire of the python print. Unfortunately for my wallet, this is not the case: I find myself charmed by its ability to make any outfit look cool. And while there are about a million ways to incorporate the print into my wardrobe, I've chosen to go with a pair of ankle boots.

My hunt for the perfect snakeskin boots was pretty simple once I spotted these chunky-heeled, pointed-toe wonders by Iro. They hit right above the ankle at the sweet spot where most of my jeans are hemmed, and they look like they are designed for a chic French cowgirl, which could be me if I went by my middle name (Renee) and moved back to Texas to open a crepe shop. Basically, they're made for me.

Who knows, maybe I'll even become a sartorial mix master and wear them with bold florals, neons and other animals prints. The boots inspire me to go a little crazy with my closet, and isn't that what any great shoe should do?
