Although award season has ultimately come to a close, the 2019 NAACP Image Awards swooped in to say the show isn't over until we say it's over. The award ceremony, which honors the best and brightest in music, film, television, literature and social justice, celebrated its 50th year — a historic moment that was rung in by celebrities who did not come to play.

There was, of course, Lupita Nyong'o, who wore a flowing, plum-shade dress by Giambattista Valli, and the ever-fashionable Tracee Ellis Ross, who posed with her Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series award in a polka-dotted Marc Jacobs dress from the designer's Fall 2019 collection. Both Chadwick Boseman and Lena Waithe opted for patterned suits, with Boseman in a brown and gold Atelier Versace number and Waithe in a soft green Grayscale suit. Marsai Martin dazzled in not one, but two looks: First, a long, black and bedazzled Georges Hobeika gown followed by a blue Viktor & Rolf ruffled dress.

And Beyoncé graced us with her presence, in Balmain no less, so there's that.

Take a look below at some of our favorite looks from the 2019 NAACP Image Awards.
