Tavi Gevinson may have left her fashion blogging days behind years ago, but the 23-year-old multi-hyphenate still knows how to use her wardrobe to make an impact. On Sunday night, Gevinson appeared at the Tribeca Film Festival to promote "Halston," a new documentary about the American fashion designer of the same name. Gevinson lends her ever-so-distinctive voice to the film as narrator, combining two of her passions in one project: fashion and acting.
At the screening on Sunday night, however, it was Gevinson's look that stood out. The outfit was simple — a sleeveless shift dress awash in a swirl of shimmery pinks and oranges subtly invoked the '70s, an era that plays a significant role in the film. But the shoes, a pair of pearl-studded, shearling-lined heeled sandals from Miu Miu, helped ground the outfit firmly in the present. Gevinson's nails, painted a barely-there baby pink, and her makeup, which featured rosy lips and shadow that made her eyes pop, added to the freshness of the look. Consider it proof that, though Gevinson might enjoy creating unhinged alter egos on Instagram, on the red carpet, she's as put-together as ever.
