If Coachella is any indication, the tie-dye trend is still alive and kicking — which is to be expected, as designers covered the runways with the trippy print for Spring 2019. That means I can ride this colorful wave through all of summer, and maybe even into fall, too, since the trend was still going strong during New York Fashion Week back in February.
My tie-dye stock is pretty slim: I only own two vintage T-shirts that I picked up during a trip to London last summer. And while that might already be plenty for the average consumer, I'd gladly acquire an additional assortment of the mixed-up motif in the form of a hoodie, sweatpants, a swimsuit and even, dare I say, a bucket hat. But all of these pieces lean on the casual side, so I'll need something covered in tie-dye that's a tiny bit classier — you know, like a blouse with a collar and buttons and a pocket. The ultimate "Vacation Dad" shirt that's fun enough for cracking open a cold one on the beach and polished enough for when it's time to go out for dinner with the family.
This brand new tie-dye button-down from Veda fits the bill with just the right mashup of fun, summer-ready colors, like slime green, safety orange and a vibrant pink — complemented with a splash of inky black. (Plus, the price is a lot easier on my wallet than, say, a tie-dye version from Prada.) I would take a style tip from the model in the photo above and pair this lightweight, oversized shirt with biker shorts as my hot-weather uniform. Top it all off with dad shoes (New Balance, obviously) and we're good to go.
