If you've been keeping up with my Editors' Picks, then the Dr. Martens boot that you see above might feel like déjà vu. Yes, I've talked about an extremely chunky combat boot from the English footwear brand before, but this time around, I've got my eyes on a similar version in the form of a Chelsea boot.
You're probably wondering to yourself, "Aren't they pretty much the same thing?" And my answer to that is, "Absolutely not!" First, there's the lack of laces, as the Chelsea boot's signature detail is its stretchy gussets (yes, they're called "gussets") on the side, complemented with a functional pull tab in the back. Second, these boots don't hit so high compared to the lace-up version, which comes with a side zipper and lands slightly below the middle of my shin, so I imagine that this style feels a little less restrictive.
And while images of Bella Hadid wearing these specific Dr. Martens aren't ingrained in my memory like with the previous pair I talked about last fall, I've seen plenty of stylish folks sport the Chelsea boot version, both IRL and on Instagram. For every time I've spotted them, it's just another reason for me to finally make a move and get a pair for myself. Plus, one can never have enough Chelsea boots, right?
