A cloaked print dress with enormous inflated shoulders, a sharp wool suit and a red sequin blazer were just some of the standout pieces worn on the red carpet at the GLAAD Media Awards, which took place on Saturday night in New York City. The annual event recognizes those who work in media for their inclusive representations of the LGBTQ community and the issues that affect their lives.
The night was a celebration of diverse creatives who would rather be loud about exactly who they are than hide in a corner wearing grey athleisure. And the guests dressed as such. Sarah Jessica Parker arrived with Andy Cohen in a dramatic Elie Saab gown, which wouldn't be out of place at Monday evening's camp-themed Met Gala. Billy Porter was a disco dream in a fiery red sparkly blazer, which he paired with satin crimson flared pants and a curly afro. Rachel Brosnahan was also in a power suit, but a more subtle one that featured ultra-feminine flourishes like a white crystal embellished wool crêpe plastron. And Indya Moore was clad in a custom Calvin Klein dress made up of sheer orange and yellow fabric.
Jonathan Van Ness wore mustard-hued silky pants with a black leather blouse. His loungewear-inspired trousers were a hit, but his plus one was an even bigger one: The "Queer Eye" star brought Jess Guilbeaux, who was featured on season three of the Netflix series, as his date. Guilbeaux picked up on the suiting theme in a white blazer with contrast black piping. She finished the look with red pointed-toe booties.
