Growing up, I lived in a climate warm enough that you could go swimming outdoors year-round, and yet I usually owned only one swimsuit at a time that actually fit me. Now, I spend most of my time in New York City, which is very decidedly not pool- or beach-friendly the majority of the year, and yet I've somehow managed to accumulate enough swimwear to last me a week without re-wearing. In short: I don't need another swimsuit, and I probably won't be buying a new one anytime soon.
But if I was going to, this gingham number from Mara Hoffman would be on my shortlist of options to consider. Gingham's such a delightfully summery print and it goes well with the vintage silhouette of this bikini set. I'm a sucker for a high-waisted bottom, and I love that the bikini top is a bit longer than the average, making it feel almost like a crop top. I can imagine transitioning it from the water to a beachy, open-air restaurant dinner with just the addition of a long skirt and some statement earrings. As someone who likes to be as lazy as possible when at the beach, that versatility appeals to me — so whether I spring for it or not, this is a suit I'll be dreaming about.
