I have a love-hate relationship with shopping for swimwear. On the one hand, I'm always in awe of what designers can do with tiny bits of nylon and lycra. But so many of the suits I end up liking have high price tags, and why would I spend $200 on glorified nipple covers?
I've therefore made it my mission to find affordable bikini brands that match my bright summer beach aesthetic. Ookioh, an eco-friendly swim line that launched in March 2018, does just that. I lived in two vibrant suits from the label last summer, and was thrilled to discover that its 2019 offering comes in new, even brighter colors and in an array of eye-catching silhouettes. The two-piece that I plan on purchasing ahead of Memorial Day weekend is a lime-colored retro wonder, complete with an underwire top and '80s sportswear-inspired briefs that feature a tie-up front and contrast white piping. The best part? The set is under $100, meaning I may actually be able to save up a few pennies to go to an island that isn't Manhattan, and this bikini certainly calls for a vacation.
