Seeing as I'm both a big fan of face mists and a strict sunscreen devotee, it seems like this hybrid setting spray/SPF 50 was made just for me. I've spent years interviewing dermatologists who preach the importance of wearing sunscreen every single day — as well as the equal importance of reapplying it every two or three hours. I've typically found the latter part of that regimen to be much more difficult to stick to, because the idea of slathering more lotion on top of the layers of skin care and makeup I'm already wearing is not appealing.
Enter: This lightweight mist that perks up makeup, imparts a dew-enhancing, quenching veil of moisture and ever-so-subtly coats skin with a layer of broad-spectrum SPF 50 protection. It's shockingly weightless, and the mist is surprisingly fine for a non-aerosol spritzer. There's also no white, chalky cast (it goes on completely clear) and no typical "sunscreen" smell — just a slight minty, herbal aroma that can be attributed to the rosemary in the formula. Despite offering both moisture and protection, it doesn't leave skin shiny or slick; there are mattifiers in the product that help set makeup and leave a smooth, non-greasy finish.
I don't typically use it as my first sunscreen layer, since studies have shown that spray-on formulas don't always protect skin as well as lotions we have to rub in (usually due to human error with the application method). But as far as several-hours-later touch ups go, this is my absolute go-to. I use it from head to toe, and it's great for getting spots like the ears or the tops of the feet that can sometimes go neglected.
