After another editor dropped a very cute Alex Mill dress into Fashionista's Slack channel the other day, I found myself wasting quite a while browsing the brand's website, wide-eyed and surprised at the number of things that are very much up my aesthetic alley, as well as their reasonable price points. The brand — founded by Alex Drexler (son of Mickey) and designed by Madewell and J.Crew alum Somsack Sikhounmuong — hasn't been around that long, but it would be accurate to say I'd been sleeping on it.
While that dress is now sold out in my size (don't worry, I'm on a wait list), it brought me to a similarly excellent midi skirt. It's solid, has a subtle A-line shape, can be unbuttoned on the side to reveal a little leg and has pockets. It's the summer staple — a tad dressier than shorts and cooler than pants — that's been missing from my wardrobe.
I love how it's styled with a matching tee and sandals on the brand's website, but I can also envision wearing it with a white tank and heels or a striped shirt with sneakers. Suffice it to say, I can see myself pulling this out a lot.
Alex Mill Midi Skirt, $128, available here.
