On Monday evening, celebrities, activists and allies gathered at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City for the 2019 TrevorLIVE gala in support of the Trevor Project's important mission to end LGBTQ+ youth suicide. Hosted by Nicole Byer and Eugene Lee Yang, it was an inspiring Pride Month event, celebrating those from the LGBTQ+ community and providing a platform for moving speeches and moments of celebration. Cara Delevingine, who was honored with the Hero Award, took the occasion to publicly and officially acknowledge her relationship with Ashley Benson for the first time in her speech. It was an evening of hope, awareness and, of course, pride, and it shed light on the important work The Trevor Project is doing. (You can find out more about The Trevor Project, how to support its mission and donate here.)
As we take a moment to appreciate the champions of young LGBTQ+ people who attended the TrevorLIVE gala, let's also indulge in a moment of frivolity, shall we? Not only did the event attendees bring visibility to a much-needed issue (and really, we can't stress enough that that is the important takeaway here!) but they also looked damn good while doing it. With many fashion folks — Benson and Delevingne, yes, but also models Geena Rocero and Georgia May Jagger, designer Christian Siriano and "runway diva coach extraordinaire" J. Alexander — in attendance, there were certainly some sartorial moments of note.
Delevingne made Balmain look its very best, wearing a white dress with flowing sleeves and black, over-the-knee boots. Meanwhile, Benson went for a more fitted silhouette in lacy Zuhair Murad. Other attendees, like Kelly Ripa and Antoni Porowski, also brought their fashion A-game, with Ripa wearing a pride-appropriate rainbow hair accessory and Porowski (unsurprisingly) going shirtless beneath a Dior suit.
