This will be my sixth summer in New York City, and if I've learned anything about living here during the hottest time of the year, it's that flat sandals are not your friend and getting dressed is hard. The first summer I spent in the Big Apple, I wore a series of impractical leather slides with no support and barely any barrier between me and the dirty, rat-and-trash-infested streets. After two months, my feet were battered and blistered messes. I returned the next June armed with sneakers and Band-Aids, but then faced my next sartorial struggle: finding comfortable warm-weather clothes that are cool by Chloë Sevigny standards.
And while I found Sevigny-worthy cut-offs, they stick to me in the most unpleasant way, and I'm tired of sweating in denim. So this year, I'm just going for comfort. This ribbed orange bike short set by Liana is the perfect answer to my summer dressing conundrum. First off, bike shorts are the bottoms du jour, so I'll fit in with the rest of my Instagram feed, and the ribbed tank reminds me of my childhood as a carefree, friendship bracelet-making camper. Plus, I want nothing more than to look like a walking creamsicle.
