Now that it's warm enough to swap out my ugly, chunky sneakers for some ugly, chunky sandals, I've been on a longwinded search for an actual pair to acquire. It's been a long journey: I had to accept that a very popular version from Chanel could only be admired from afar after considering my budgetary restrictions, while different styles from Suicoke made me wary about sizing and longevity, even though every Cool Person that I follow on Instagram owns a pair. I considered purchasing Birkenstock slides (similar to the ones that Tyler is deciding on), but I would prefer something that wasn't a slip-on version, since I'm going on vacation and need a sturdy, comfortable pair for when I'm roaming around in new places.
As it turns out, the sandals I should get were right in front of me all along, from Tevas. You see, I already own a pair from the brand's sold-out collaboration with Outdoor Voices, and I love how this particular style has a thicker, sporty sole — "traction-enhancing," according to them — which makes it feel like I'm a wearing a sneaker. While the version that I already have is made up of multiple bright, summer-friendly colors, I'd prefer to get a pair in black so that it would go with a few more of my outfits. (Plus, I already know my size.)
Sure, these sandals currently going through a now-considered-cute episode, but I have a feeling that I'll be wearing them well beyond their on-trend phrase.
