For the last few summers, my go-to city sandals been a slingback leather pair by Whistles. They have a thick rubber sole, so there's enough distance between my feet and the trash-ridden pavement, and they're black, so they go with just about everything. But I've grown tired of them, and I feel like it's time to add a new comfy pair to my summer shoe rotation. I've been drooling over the luxurious footwear range by Dear Frances for quite some time now, and decided immediately that I needed to get its cross slides.
Made entirely by hand in Italy, these slides feature wide cross straps with hand-weave finished in white, tan and mustard yellow. I love their fresh, summery color palette, as it goes well with my warm-weather denim shorts uniform. What's more, the straps are set on a durable, contoured leather footbed and a grounding rubber sole, so they're supportive and won't become my sartorial enemies after a full day of walking.
Dear Frances Cross Slide, $295, available here.
