There were a couple of years when slides were really dominating the sandal landscape — and they're still quite easy to find, along with their now-trendy cousin, flip-flops. And while those backless styles may be great for lounging by a beach or pool, sometimes you need something that keeps your heels a bit more firmly planted and secure.
Enter slingbacks. Heeled slingbacks have been a classic style for some time, with kitten-heel options having had a pretty big moment thanks to those Chanel and Dior street-style favorites. But there are also now a wide range of flat and sandal options, from strappy ones that fit this season's "naked sandal" trend to more substantial versions ideal for traversing bustling (and maybe not-super-clean) city streets.
