The buzziest aspects of Milan Fashion Week might have been Jennifer Lopez closing the show at Versace or Gucci's controversial straitjackets, but those weren't the only memorable things that came down the runways. There was also the footwear: minimalist heels at Jil Sander, glass-slipper-like transparent shoes at Salvatore Ferragamo, funky woven leathers at Bottega Veneta and more.
While there were plenty of unique offerings from a variety of brands, a few trends emerged clearly. The first was barely-there strappy slippers, which showed up at Emporio Armani and Peter Pilotto. Chunky sandals continued to go strong this season, too, appearing in an array of bright colors on the Prada and United Colors of Benetton runways. Easy-on, easy-off slides were also represented, whether they came in exotic leathers at Versace or in bright fringes at MSGM.
