While a billowy princess-like gown is always going to have its place on the red carpet, there's something so confidently sexy and exciting about a woman in a sleek suit. Take, for example, Eva Longoria Baston showing up to the annual Global Gift Gala London in an oversize Balmain look that featured a metallic blazer and matching trousers, or British actress Eleanor Tomlinson, who wore a tailored tuxedo-style jumpsuit by David Koma to the Esquire Townhouse that boasted sleek satin lapels, a micro clasp detail and a clean silhouette. In a sea of fancy frocks, their no-frills pants outfits stood out in a quietly cool way.

Of course, suits weren't the only thing celebrities wore this week, and there were plenty of lovely dresses that made appearances, too. Gugu Mbatha-Raw made a splash at the Rome Film Festival on Thursday in an off-the-shoulder Gucci Pre-Fall 2019 gown that was covered in majestic constellation embellishments. And then there was Hailee Steinfeld in an over-the-top, sparkle-heavy Francesco Scognamiglio Spring 2018 Couture look.
