When Swedish fast-fashion retailer H&M announced back in May that its next designer collaboration would be with Giambattista Valli, it wasn't exactly a subtle affair. Kendall Jenner revealed the partnership by wearing a hot pink, couture-style tulle frock to the glamorous annual amfAR soirée. The head-turning look set the tone for the capsule, which is described by the brand in an official press release as "an eclectic feast of glorious femininity."
Red carpet-worthy dresses take center stage in the collection: There are long gowns accented with lace edging; ruffled minis decorated with micro floral prints; and frothy tulle confections. Blouses and cardigans reflect the same girlish ingenue, conveyed through delicate ruffles and flower embroideries.
The range also features a series of tailored streetwear, including a short blazer with peak lapels and leather trousers. A black logo hoodie, cargo pants and a loose-fitting sweatshirt round out the line.
On the accessories front, the collection plays with pearls, animal print scarves and demure shoulder bags.
For the men, Valli experimented with patterns and flower motifs. "The Valli Boy comes across as a free-spirited bohemian, part surfer part art collector, who mixes bits, references and pieces; an eccentric globetrotter who breaks the rules," reads the press release.
Giambattista x H&M launches globally, in select stores and online at HM.com, on Nov. 7. In the meantime (after you set your calendar notification, of course), click through the gallery below to see the lookbook — which is styled by Giovanna Battaglia Engelbert — in full.
