At this point in my life, I've accepted that I'll never be a light packer. I like to be prepared and I like to have a well-stocked beauty stash with me at all times. So I appreciate a bag that can accommodate my maximalist tendencies while I travel and organize them into a less chaotic state. Enter Dagne Dover's Landon Large Caryall, which is basically the closest thing you can get to Mary Poppins's bottomless bag in real life.
Made from stretchy neoprene, it's both roomy and lightweight, not to mention pretty ingeniously designed. There are short top handles coated in soft, comfy rubber; a removable crossbody strap; multiple interior pockets (some made from mesh, so you can see what's in them); a padded laptop pouch; a thin, removable bag (which I typically put to use for dirty laundry that accumulates during my trip); and a small exterior pocket for easy access (this is where I stash my phone and ID as I go through security). I've been amazed at the amount of stuff I've been able to neatly squeeze inside it, and it makes an ideal carryon because it's compact enough to be stashed underneath the seat of an airplane and makes rifling through to find your headphones or water bottle surprisingly simple, thanks to the many separate compartments.
I've now taken it on many quick weekend trips, overnights and week-long vacations, and it's still going strong, with very few signs of wear and tear. I'd never really thought to invest in a bag this size before, but I was given this one as a gift and it's been a real game-changer for me.
