It's no secret that over the past few seasons, the wardrobe from the 1995 film "Clueless" has been referenced time and time again by designers and in street style. But I'm not sure an exact, original design from the film has hit the market until now. Last week, the Los Angeles brand Pretties — which launched in the '90s and prides itself on being the originator of the "baby tee" — reissued a long-sleeve tie-dye style worn by Brittany Murphy herself while playing Tai (from her iconic makeover scene no less).
Well, sort of. According to Vogue, the "Clueless" costume designer technically put Murphy in a shirt inspired by Pretties founder Linda Meltzer's design, which she released in 1994. But what's better than the original?
I've been following Pretties for a while now and picked up camisole from its dreamy Abbot Kinney boutique over the summer. I love the retro fit of its tops and while this tie-dye number isn't exactly my style, the nostalgia factor is making me very strongly consider making a purchase. Perhaps it wouldn't be my most capable-looking outfit, but it certainly wouldn't make me look ensembly challenged.
Pretties Tie Dye Heart Baby Tee, $85, available here.
