Everything about Carolina Herrera is classy--the designer herself, her creations, and of course her front rows. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand sat next to Anna Wintour, while down the runway Herrera mentee Prabal Gurung took in the show. Herrera’s biggest celeb fan, Renee Zellweger, was also there to support the designer, getting whisked to her seat only moments before the show began. (Sadly, Nicki Minaj didn't show up this season.)

With so many celebrities rolling out fragrances and so many millions of consumers buying them, it's easy to forget that creating a scent is actually an art form. It takes talent, skill, and inventiveness. I was reminded of this fact earlier this week at Elements Showcase where an impressive collection of niche fragrance brands came together to present their diverse products. The bi-annual showcase that first premiered last January, is the vision of Jeff Lawson, owner of an events consultancy, Ulrich Lang, a former L'Oreal exec, and Frederick Bouchardy, founder of Joya, a creative collective specializing in fragrance. The goal of the event was to connect fragrance designers with the media and buyers from top distributors like Barney's and Henri Bendel, while at the same time, highlighting the artistry and craftsmanship of the exhibitors' products.

What could have been the love child of an epic mating between new and old school, may not be anymore. WWD reports today that Sassy's Jane Pratt--now the EIC of XOJane.com--may no longer be involved with Tavi Gevinson's upcoming website, after all. Earlier this year, Tavi and Jane announced they would be collaborating on a site for teens called "Rookie." XOJane launched but there was no sign of Tavi's project. Up until this July, the blogger was still talking about it. At an event in Brooklyn, the high school sophomore dished details about the partnership, announcing the official title and what to expect in terms of design and tone. She also did a guest post on the site about the disgusting contents of her locker. According to WWD, Tavi has recently decided against launching with Say Media, the company which hosts XOJane, in order to have full control of her site.

And we thought Lady Gaga's cheek prothetics were weird. Vice mag unearthed a strange trend that has hit Japan and is right out of a bad sci-fi movie. People are injecting saline into their foreheads to make the skin bubble. The process takes about two hours, and looks absolutely horrifying. To achieve the "bagel-head" look, they press a finger in the center of the bubble during the infusion. The look only lasts for one night. The process was brought to Japan by journalist Ryoichi Maeda who has been documenting extreme body modification (apparently, it's a big underground scene) there since 1992.
