You know, if spring ever decides to happen.
The designer's mantra for the show's shoes? "Just make them sexy as hell."
From Brian Atwood's post-Thanksgiving shopping trips with mom to Meredith Rollins's Manolo Blahnik score, read on for the fashion flock's Black Friday memories.
The company has already fulfilled its recent pledge to acquire more footwear brands.
The acquisition gives Steve Madden a stake in the luxury market for the first time.
A week after Rachel Roy's line was discontinued by Jones Group, Brian Atwood seems to be slimming down, too.
Bridal shoes are not traditionally the sexiest kind of footwear. Sensible white heels you'll never wear again, right? Wrong, if Brian Atwood has a say. He's launching a bridal collection.

MIAMI--Hot on the heels of Louis Vuitton's spotty collab with dot-obsessed Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama, comes Valentino's Pop Pois collection.
We took a break from stalking Ryan Lochte at last night's Brian Atwood fete to check in with the man of the hour himself.
At last night's Brian Atwood soiree, on our quest to find and subsequently woo Ryan Lochte, we stumbled (seriously--we're talking 4" heels, people) into one of the most beautiful boys we ever did see, The Rachel Zoe Project's Jeremiah Brent. Obviously we couldn't pass up a chance to canoodle with this certified cutie--but we didn't have much time (Lochte was getting away), so we got right to it:
It was only a matter of time...Prince Harry decided to play "strip billiards" (so that's a thing?) and someone had a phone with a camera (weird!) an
Ungaro Can't Catch a Break: It hasn't been a good start to 2012 for Emanuel Ungaro, which announced that, in addition to not being able to deliver its spring collection to retailers, it also won't be presenting a fall collection at fashion week and has canceled all appointments for pre-fall. Current owner Asim Abdullah vaguely stated that the brand is going through an "internal reorganization" that will allow for Ungaro to become "profitable in the near future." Hmm... This seems suspiciously (and perfectly) timed for former Ungaro guest-designer Lindsay Lohan's 2012 comeback. Coincidence? {WWD} Fashion's Night Out is September 6: Yep, it's happpppennning... Fashion's Night Out 2012 will be Thursday, Sept 6. While the gown in no hot tranny mess, it definitely looks a bit tamer than what we're used to seeing from the fierce designer. Here's hoping he goes all out on the rest of the looks. {Glamour}
Along with making ridiculously sexy heels that pretty ladies love to wear--from both his main line collection and his B Brian Atwood diffusion line--shoe designer Brian Atwood has entered the mini-movie business. Well, sort of. Unveiled in November, the B Brian Atwood “Vibrant Tears Killer Heels” video basically represents color-blocking through, well, a model crying candy-colored paint tears all over her smoking hot and unclothed body, to finally drip onto a diabolical Resort ’11 platform pump. Now the dishy designer is at it again with a racy new vid promoting another pair of come-hither fringed strappies for his Spring ‘12 B collection. We were lucky enough to receive an exclusive invitation to drop by the steamy video shoot at Triad, a teeny burlesque-style theater located above a Turkish restaurant on W. 72nd Street (who knew?). We arrived as a very leggy model was in full rehearsal mode, shaking her groove thing in killer heels and lingerie for the directors. All in a day’s work. Then we headed upstairs to the balcony overlooking the action for a nice chat with the dreamy Atwood (honestly, his handsomeness is distracting). Keep an eye out for the completed video in January 2012, but in the meantime, here are the designer’s thoughts on his B line, Manolo Blahnik’s well-documented hatred of platforms, and that notorious Hollywood diva - Miss Piggy:
We've already examined Miss Piggy's style evolution, which has definitely entered a new, high-fashion period as she's on the cusp of opening her first new movie in 12 years. (Well, she's technically part of an ensemble cast, but Piggy obviously shines and will find a way to the top of the movie poster). While her style tends to run a bit to the drag queen side of the spectrum--which we support and embrace--she's just landed an eight-page editorial spread in November's InStyle, WWD reports, wearing some of the classiest designers in the business. Jason Wu, Prabal Gurung, Suno, Opening Ceremony, Brian Atwood, and Giles & Brother all created custom pieces especially for the diva's InStyle spread. Jason Wu (at left) went with his signature feathers, while Prabal Gurung (below) opted for a more sedate all-white number. You can see the whole editorial on Friday when the mag hits newsstands.
Somebody finally thought to give awesome couple Ice-T and Coco an awesome reality TV show, Ice Loves Coco. Coco has always had her own distinct style, which is getting a lot more exposure now that she's on TV. She's obviously a fashion lover and now she's using music to express that love. In her first single, "Shoe Freak," Coco simply lists shoe designers that she likes--in a breathy sexy voice, of course. Only a short excerpt of the single has hit the internet and in that minute she lists 16 shoe designers, including: moreJimmy Choo, Yves Saint Laurent, Giuseppe, Gucci, Christian Louboutin, Prada, Valentino, Alexander McQueen, Dior, Ferragamo, Dolce & Gabbana, Miu Miu, Brian Atwood, Sergio Rossi, Fendi, and Louis Vuitton. And that's just a minute of "Shoe Freak." Can't wait to see what the full track has in store... (Via Buzzfeed)
Swarovski's been sponsoring the CFDAs for over a decade, and the roster of up-and-coming designers who have won the crystal brand's trio of awards is quite impressive. (Everyone from Zac Posen to Alexander Wang has accepted a Swarovski.) This little diddy is a montage of acceptance speeches over the years, and features everyone from Kate Spade and Rick Owens to Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen. Totally worth the two minutes.
Today Footwear News reveals previews of both B Brian Atwood, Brian Atwood's diffusion line, as well as Jimmy Choo's new men's shoes. B Brian Atwood will sell at a much lower price point than his eponymous line--for between $100 to $600. Sure, the high end of that range still sounds prohibitively expensive, but when you consider that his shoes, a cult favorite amongst celebs, usually go for between $600 and $800 and upwards, $200 or $100 for a pair of Atwoods seems reasonable in comparison. The collection will include between 35 and 54 styles and has been picked up by Saks Fifth Avenue, Barneys Co-op, Fred Segal and Shopbop.com, according to Footwear News. And despite the lower cost, the shoes still look beautiful, come in fun bold shapes and colors that give the line a more youthful feel, and contain some of those bonus details--like rhinestones on the soles--to make the wearer feel extra special. We also get a peek at Jimmy Choo's revived menswear collection (they haven't created men's shoes since 2002), which will launch in fall 2011 with 16 styles in prices ranging from $595 to $1,095, Footwear News is reporting. Men, would you shell out up to $1,095 for crocodile boots or animal print loafers? Check out the collections. All photos: Kyle Ericksen (B Brian Atwood) and Giovanni Giannoni (Jimmy Choo) for WWD.
Buzzy shoe designer and Rachel Zoe-favorite Brian Atwood recently resigned from his post as creative director at Bally, so it's no surprise that he's getting into something else. Jones Apparel Group has inked a deal with the designer to launch a contemporary footwear and accessories collection. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. In the past few years, Jones has attempted to revive its fuddy-duddy image through partnerships with the likes of Stuart Weitzman and Rachel Roy. The line, tentatively named B Brian Atwood, will feature shoes priced between $200 and $400, as well as boots around $600.
The new Fashion's Night Out website launched today and it's pretty impressive. You can browse and search every New York event listing and even create your own itinerary. You can also narrow the 51 pages of listings down by neighborhood, category (men, women, beauty) and/or specialty (block party, celebrity, food). But if you're looking for, say, ten or so events that are most likely worth checking out, look no further. We reviewed each and every page to bring you the ten FNO events we're most looking forward to.
