From the runways at Giamba, Etro, Versace and more.
And on today's agenda: Tory Burch, Vera Wang, Rodarte, Coach, Oscar de la Renta and Narciso Rodriguez.
Better than it was a few years ago. But still not great.
Andreas Melbostad’s fall 2014 outing for the label started with a bang, literally: A large metal plate, reminiscent of a solar panel orbiting outer space, crashed down on the stage right before the show began.

The goal of Diesel Black Gold's latest collection--Andreas Melbostad's second for the label--was, as the program put it, to “express a new duality.”
We got a "thumbs up" snap with Uncle Terry. Winning.
According to Page Six, "sources" say Formichetti is about to be named Creative Director at Diesel. When reached for comment, a spokesperson for Diesel would only say "no comment." That's not exactly a denial--and there might be some truth to this one.

Ponytails are the new braids. From New York all the way through Paris—the ponytail reigned supreme during the fall 2012 season. Obviously the pony is a perennial favorite, but it had a particularly strong showing this season. But the style can be more challenging to reproduce than it seems. On the catwalk, it’s a high-fashion look that reads casual and low-maintenance. But on the sidewalk, it has the potential to come across quite lackluster, horribly humdrum, and soccer mom-ish. That’s where we come in—a few of our favorite designers (in collaboration with their amazing runway hair stylists) have found easy and interesting ways to retell the age-old pony tale. Here, ten quick tips for the prettiest, fashion-forward, DIY ponies ever, straight from the fall 2012 runways.
Hot of the runway, we have badass quirk from Diesel Black Gold, structured minimalism and handbags from Narciso Rodriguez and Alexandre Herchcovitch
Marc Jacobs Uses Underage Models, Defies CFDA Guidelines: Much like the crazy nastyass honey badger, Marc Jacobs just don't care about the CFDA's proposed guidelines to ban models under age 16 from the runway, despite the fact that Jacobs is a member of the organization. In brazen defiance, Jacobs used at least two models who had potentially just completed their bat mitzvah's, stating "If their parents are willing to let them do a show, I don’t see any reason that it should be me who tells them that they can’t." Whatever, whatever, Marc does what he wants! {NY Times} New Designers Struggle to Get Notice at NYFW: Not all designers can get Anna Wintour (or even George Lucas) in the front row. Take a look into the world of the new and talented designers who can't yet afford a runway at Lincoln Center, or a professional makeup artist for that matter. {NY Mag} Bar Rafaeli Felt Flabby in Sports Illustrated: The lingerie model-turned-designer says she felt fat and flabby posing with professional athletes for the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. Yesterday the fashion set piled into Pier 57, a freezing cavernous space, to see the Diesel Black Gold collection. Once inside the runway section, space heaters warmed the crowd from above, while black lights illuminated the set, which consisted of white frames that the models stepped through. Before the show started there was a lot of chatting in Italian (remember Diesel’s CEO Renzo Rosso is a VIP Italian), and a lot of seat filling – so much so that when Diesel’s PR brought out the celebs (Tyler the Creator, Petra Nemcova) they had nowhere to sit. A lot of reshuffling ensued. Finally the clothes emerged form a smoky cloud, and they were great.
After six days of fashion week, we are still going strong. (A lot of Valentine's Day chocolate is definitely helping carry us along.) Today we took in shows from Oscar de la Renta, Vera Wang, Marc by Marc Jacobs, and Diesel Black Gold, and saw quite a few girls in leopard coats - on and off the runway. Check our our pictures from today to see New York Fashion Week from our perspective.

Diesel Black Gold shows in the same warehouse as Alexander Wang, but lately, that’s not all the two houses have in common. Since Sophia Kokosalaki took the helm four seasons ago, Diesel’s ditched distressed denim for sleeker fabrics, while keeping the brand’s rock & roll beat alive. Voilà: this season’s leather jackets, corseted harness dresses, and boyfriend trousers, all rendered in luxe metallics.
Timeworn yet timeless best encompasses Sophia Kokosalaki's collection for Diesel Black Gold this season. Set inside of the massive Pier 94, a maze of folding chairs whose occupants included Chace Crawford, Vanessa Hudgens, and Wyclef Jean, filled only a small portion of the stark concrete space. The pieces were meant to look as if they had come to life out of a sepia photograph, and indeed the maroons, olive greens, navys, and neutrals all had a tinge of rust coloring to them.
At New York Fashion Week we were plenty impressed with Sophia Kokosalaki's runway collection for Diesel Black Gold. It seems that department store buy
