Lunchtime poll: Is there anything Gwen Stefani can't do? We're pretty sure the short answer is "no."
Here's a news item with a lot of P's. Peter Pilotto will show at this year's Pitti W event, which will run from June 19 to the 22nd. {Vogue UK} Nicholas Kirkwood is not feeling Duchess Kate Middleton. The shoe designer says she isn't "princessy" enough. Way to throw shade, Nick. Maybe he's just mad she doesn't wear his shoes? {Grazia} If you thought Birkins were expensive, peep this freshwater pearl-encrusted Chanel shell bag. This puppy will set you back $48,000! {Refinery 29} Beyoncé posted a picture of her newest nameplate necklace to her tumblr. Whose name is she rocking? Blue Ivy's, of course! {I Am Beyonce}
One of our favorite celebrity clothing designers may not be taking the bow at her upcoming runway show during New York Fashion Week next month. However, Gwen Stefani has a pretty good excuse--she'll (possibly) be in Los Angeles finishing up No Doubt's first new album in 10 years, which we are so excited about that we're pretty sure we can forgive her. Plus, with three clothing lines (including Harajuku Mini which launches at Target in November), two fragrances, and Zuma, she has a lot on her plate. A spokesperson for L.A.M.B. told Page Six, "Given the extraordinary demands of working on three fashion lines while also finishing a new record, it is hard to say whether she will be able to attend the actual presentation in New York next month." This makes us wonder how important Gwen Stefani's presence at her show really is.
The black lace gown Gwen Stefani wore to the Cannes amfAR gala sparked quite a controversy earlier this week, when a "rep" for designer Michael Angel started a rumor that he, rather than the L.A.M.B. designer, deserved credit. A statement given to The Cut by Angel's alleged rep said that Stefani was discrediting Angel, who both helped her with the design and worked as a stylist. The information turned out misconstrued. Angel told FashionEtc. that the now-former employee spoke "without having full knowledge of the collaboration" and that Stefani designed the dress herself for the gala's auction. (The dress sold for $125,000.) He was fairly upset about the rumor, saying, "I'm disappointed that the focus has shifted away from what Gwen and I originally intended, which was to create a custom outfit for a great cause. We both were thrilled with the outcome and enjoyed the process."

Yesterday's L.A.M.B. show was broken into six parts: Soldier Girls, Rasta Ragga Muffins, London Girls, Buffalo Girls, Mod Girls, and Glamour Girls. It may sound like mix of random inspirations, but once the looks came out on the runway the connection was obvious. These are all the looks Gwen has cycled through during her career. The opening group of Soldier Girls wore, unsurprisingly, army green looks that were all tightly tailored. With only eight looks, the Soldier Girls section was brief, but left me wanting more. Stefani could have done an entire show off the army girl riff, and it would have been amazing.
Last night, despite tornadoes and sheer exhaustion, I zipped uptown to the Hudson Hotel and then over to the meatpacking district for New York Fashion Week's final parties. First of all, I don't understand places like the Hudson Hotel and Tribeca Grand. Do people actually, like, check into rooms and sleep there? With loud, crazy parties going on all over the hotel every night, who would want to? Just curious. We started the night at the Hudson's Library for a party that had something to do with W, as there were copies of the October issue scattered about tables and fireplace mantles. The crowd was international, leather-clad, and kind of rude. After that, we stopped by the L.A.M.B. after party in a gallery on West 13th. It was really cool, and not just because Kanye was mingling with Marc Jacobs.
