Last night we made our way over to Hotel Americano for a Parisian-meets-British-meets-New-York soiree that only Maje and campaign star Alexa Chung could pull off. In between munching on hors d'oeuvres, and grooving to the live tunes of Wild Belle, we managed to grab a few moments with the women of the hour: Maje creative director Judith Milgrom (more on that later) and Alexa Chung. Read on to hear what Chung had to say on people copying her personal style, the new line she's working on, and her struggles with body image.

When you work in fashion in New York, it's inevitable that certain things will, for better or worse, remind you of Zoolander--but this particular re
Thank goodness Maje, the French high street label, has an outpost in New York now. The brand, and its sister Sandro (literally the two brands are owned by sisters), both showed up stateside this year to well-deserved buzz. Both labels consistently put out luxe looking pieces-- boiled down looks from the best of the last season's runways--and voila, instant Parisian street chic! (You can shop both brands online, too). We previewed the fall collection yesterday and, yes, it's really good.
Vanessa Traina launched her seven-piece capsule collection for Maje, the super chic French contemporary brand, on the seventh floor Barneys last night amidst a very cool fashiony crowd that included Traina's buddies Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, Joseph Altuzarra, Alexander Wang and the Proenza Schouler boys. Traina's collection--which is comprised of a beautifully tailored tuxedo blazer and some insanely sexy black silk and lace underthings--is presumably meant to drum up buzz and interest in Maje's long overdue launch in the US. Vanessa Traina is even tweeting for the first time under the handle @MajeUSA, the label's first account in English. The label sells pieces at stores in the states but has yet to open a Maje boutique stateside. Luckily--and I do mean luckily because Maje is full of perfectly French chic and sexy dresses and separates and I spent too much money there while I was in Paris--New Yorkers can shop Maje very soon (it's about time Maje joined all the other French outposts setting up shop in New York). "We're opening in the end of September on Bleecker street near the Marc store," Maje founder and creative director Judith Milgrom told me last night. "I hope all American girls like Maje."
