A chance revisiting of Antonioni’s film masterpiece L’avventura inspired Organic designer John Patrick to take things in a discernibly more refined direction for Spring 2014.
Four cities, one season: Fall 2013. Nemo kicked the collections off and every city to follow added its own dose of wintry chill. Somehow all that cold weather caused a discernible note of restraint to float through the collections. Don’t worry--the passion and excitement were still there, but designers actively pursued defining new ways we can really dress next fall. These looks felt grounded in the return of the “Lady," as fashion’s pendulum swung away from the risqué, toward the refreshingly refined (spike-studded shoulders be damned). Check out our top trends for fall in the slide show.
DJ, model, actress, music label owner, restaurateur, and style It Girl Hannah Bronfman has a new slash. And it’s not the slash of midriff she exhibited in a very cute twin set crop top at Organic by John Patrick's show two weeks ago, where she also served as the designer’s unofficial muse.
Fashion week came, and brought a feisty lil' friend named Nemo along for the ride--forcing us to consider forgoing, "Well, doesn't she look chic!" for, "Well, doesn't she look warm?!" The runways begged to differ, offering up endless new ways to bundle-up beautifully for fall 2013. Check out our top ten trend takeaways from the fashion week that weathered the storm in style.
The Fashionista team hit the road today to venues around Manhattan to kick off New York fashion week. (Even though tomorrow is "officially" day one of New York fashion week, with close to 20 shows today, we think it counts.) From J.Brand's fashion week debut to pink fur at Tanya Taylor to carousel rides and Ne-Yo at the Prabal Gurung for Target launch party, click through to see what we saw.
What’s a downtown girl with a Warhol fetish and an ethical clothing sensibility to wear? The answer is Organic by John Patrick’s Fall 2013 collection.
Name: Gabrielle Age: 23 Occupation: New York Fashion Editor at FILLER Magazine. How would you describe your style? A variation on classic, with moments of Mod and 70's thrown in depending on the day. Right now, I'm really inspired by the long skirt trend. Every piece I've bought this season hits the ground or is just above the ankle bone. There is something very sexy in being covered up. What are you listening to? The Temper Trap, Friendly Fires, and Neutral Milk Hotel. If you were to get a tattoo today, what would it be? There's nothing I really want permanently stamped on my body.
