Tod's has announced that Alessandra Facchinetti will take over as creative director beginning next month. While not a household name herself, the Italian designer has worked for several.
News broke yesterday that Derek Lam was leaving his post as creative director of Tod's after 5 plus years. This morning a follow up story in WWD confirmed that fall 2012 Tod's collection was indeed Lam's last collection for the brand but neither party has yet commented. Which leaves things completely open for rumor and speculation. In a rather off-handed way, WWD dropped this little nugget: Lam’s departure coincides with continued speculation that John Galliano was in talks with the Italian firm to either do a Tod’s capsule collection or revamp its Schiaparelli brand. However, Della Valle firmly dismissed the rumors. Um, what?
Derek Lam Leaves Tod’s: After six years at Tod’s, WWD is reporting that the designer has left his post as the creative director there. So far we haven’t seen a single rumor that he’s going to Dior. Yet. {WWD, subscription required} Agyness Deyn Is Launching a Collection with Doc Martens: After two successful campaigns with the footwear brand--not to mention being photographed in them umpteen times--Aggy is making it official with Doc Martens. This fall we can expect a collaborative line featuring clothing, footwear, and accessories. {Grazia} Kate Moss Makes Three Headlines Today: Kate Moss is all over our news feed this morning! First off, a lovely chat with the Telegraph wherein she shares her style tips (like plan what you’re wearing to a dinner party so you don’t look “silly”). She also is rumored to be doing a duet with Kristen Stewart (file that under “long shot"). Finally, Piers Morgan called her “vile.” Geez. {Telegraph UK, GossipCop, Refinery29}
Tavi’s in a Wilco Video: While at first glance this makes no sense, here’s how it happened: Wilco’s lead singer Jeff Tweedy has a 15-year-old son, Spencer. Spencer directed the video. Spencer is pals with Tavi and has written for Rookie. Hence, Tavi gets to be in a Wilco video. {Hollywood Reporter} Expect a Lot of Polka Dots on Louis Vuitton Accessories This Summer: Marc Jacobs has collaborated with Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama on a wide range of accessories, RTW, shoes, watches, and jewelry. She’s best known for putting polka dots on pretty much everything. While Louis Vuitton reportedly won’t show the pieces at the fall shows in Paris this March, they’re supposed to hit stores in July. {WWD, subscription required} More Looks From the Jason Wu for Target Line Revealed: Readers of People Style Watch's February issue were treated to a new ad and a full page of looks from the hotly-anticipated designer collab. When can we see the whole collection?? {The Budget Babe}
Kim Who?: Mark Ronson wed Josephine de la Baume this weekend and, unsurprisingly, the duo--clad in a red pinstripe suit and cleavage-baring white gown (respectively)--look unbelievably fashionable. {PopSugar} Paying Tribute or Shilling Champagne? Scarlett Johansson channels Brigitte Bardot in a Lulu Gainsbourg video for dad Serge Gainsbourg's song "Bonnie & Clyde," which features a gorgeous Johansson writhing around in what looks like a bed sheet and drinking champagne--and even features the young starlet's vocals instead of Bardot's. While the video is ostensibly a tribute to Gainsbourg, we think it looks a whole lot like an ad for Moet Chandon champagne, for which Johansson is also a spokesperson. {Huffington Post} Something Is Really Off About Stella Tennant in Vogue Italia: See all the images from Vogue Italia's Ethel Granger-inspired shoot. Frightening. {Fashion Gone Rogue}
