Time to update that CV!
The outspoken PETA activist is more than just dabbling in design.
Appealing to the “basic” in every one of us is not a bad strategy.
Last night's grand opening of the first-ever Ugg for Men store may have been about the launch of Ugg's men's line in its new Madison Avenue showroom, but clearly, the main event was the brand's spokesman, New England Patriots quarterback and Mr. Gisele Bundchen, Tom Brady. But more on that in a bit. As far as Ugg Australia (it's Ugg, not Uggs) is concerned, the bootie brand has undergone a major attempt at rebranding over the past few seasons.
Calvin Klein's Baby Boyfriend Drama: Twenty-two-year-old ex-porn star Nick Gruber, who shares a suspiciously similar hairstyle and skin smoothness with his 69 y.o. designer beau, was arrested yesterday on charges of assault, resisting arrest, and cocaine possession-- in that order. It seems the law has come between him and his Calvin. {NY Post} UGG Opening New NYC Flagship: After the apocalypse, the only things left will be rats, Cher, and Uggs. The fuzzy boot retailer, which continues to expand against all the fashion faux pas odds, will open a 2,500-sq-foot store in NYC's Meatpacking District this fall. {WWD} John Varvatos Doesn't Fancy Fashion Star Theatrics: The Fashion Star mentor isn't very into the ridiculous shenanigans that explode onstage during the clothing presentations on his reality show. "If the show continues to go on," he'd apparently like to see less of these distractions. Hold on-- if? IF?? But what on Earth would we do on Tuesday nights without this glorious, fashion forward, relevant celebrity-driven concoction of a series? I can't bear the thought. {BuzzFeed}
"Shit OscarPRGirl Says" Will Make You LOL: We get it, everyone's really effing sick of all those "Shit [blank] Say" parodies. But just trust us (and WWD) on this one. It stars Andrew Mukamal, Erica Domesek, and John Jannuzzi and is really, really funny. And we won't judge you for only using the Valencia filter on your Instagram after. OK we might a little. {WWD} Tim Gunn is 29 Years Celibate: Sounds like someone's not making it work in the bedroom. The Project Runway workroom mentor has revealed that an ex-lover so badly scorned him that he in turn completely gave up sex. I'm sorry Tim, but "this worries me." {Celebuzz} Kate Moss Gets Interviewed for Mango: In a behind the scenes video for her new Terry Richardson-shot Mango campaign, Kate talks the future of fashion videos and inadvertently shows us the vast difference that good lighting can make. {Modelinia}
Oprah's final "Favorite Things" episode aired this past week. If you haven't watched the crowd reactions already, you should (or check out audience reactions from the whole last season on this awesome tumblr). Everyone went nuts. Of course, if I was being gifted a 2012 Volkswagon Beetle, an iPad, and some Le Creuset cookware, I'd be doing a happy dance too. Having your product on Oprah's "Favorite Things" things list is akin to having your book chosen for her book club--meaning it will sell. And often, Oprah's favorite stuff is beauty and fashion-related (but the fashion tends to be on the comfort-end--nothing wrong with that). Previously Oprah-endorsed favorite things like Spanx and Uggs became ubiquitous best-sellers after earning a spot on the "Favorite Things" list, according to AOL's Small Business site. Her "Favorite Things" episode has even saved some companies from the brink of bankruptcy. So we decided to take a look at this year's fashion and beauty-related "favorite things" as well as "favorite things" of years past (yes, J.Lo's velour sweatsuit was on the list in '02). Are any of them your favorite things too?
What could be more expensive and more unnecessary than $400 Jimmy Choo for Hunter faux crocodile rainboots? Jimmy Choo embellished Uggs. Tamara Mellon
