If Zac Posen does indeed start designing furniture, then we have an inkling who might lend a helping hand: Boyfriend Christopher Niquet. Niquet is a French stylist who got his start at Self Service magazine in the late nineties, and has worked in the business ever since, styling shoots for (among others) Another Magazine, Dazed & Confused, US Elle and Purple, as well as campaigns for Karl Lagerfeld, Hermes, A.P.C. and, of course, Zac Posen. But according to Niquet, he may be changing track soon. "I think I will do more interiors now," the sought-after-stylist told us last night at the opening of the new Z Spoke store. Apparently it all started when good friends Alexa Chung and Tennessee Thomas recently moved to Manhattan and the stylist began helping them decorate their apartments. Anyone who has met Niquet can tell the man has impeccable taste, and so it's no surprise that before he knew it, he was helping Chung and Thomas source furniture and pick out textiles for their respective apartments. "It's great with Alexa because she doesn't need to spend any money at all on clothes--no, I think she gets it all for free!" he told us last night, laughing. "I was at a shoot with her recently and she took like a trunk home full of clothes and I said, is this normal? And she said, yeah pretty much." Cue the jealousy...
Last night we popped by the opening of Zac Posen's new Z Spoke store in the Meatpacking district. The new space, painted white and replete with a red carpet, fresh flowers and stacks of fashion-y book, is, much like it's dynamo designer, the last word on glamour. We caught up with Posen, who looked adorably dapper (of course) in a pantsuit and colorful graphic shirt, to talk about the new space, his crazy work schedule (sometimes he doesn't sleep) and the future of Z Spoke. Fashionista: The store looks amazing. How did you pick this spot? Actually the spot picked me! Our CEO is also the CEO of Scoop so we wanted to build the new store into Scoop's space. I wanted to have a store that was a destination location, and I feel like this is it. You know, I'm a born a bred New Yorker so I knew it was important to have a destination. Where in New York did you grow up? I was born in SoHo on Spring street. My dad’s an artist, he worked in half the loft and we lived in the other half. Is the building still standing? My parents still live there! Yeah, so what I think of my parents is that they were hipsters. That’s why I’m so into glamour.
And Tweens Heads Explode: Artist Daniel Edwards unveiled his life-sized bronze statue of Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez depicting the famous duo entirely nude except for a Canadian maple leaf and Texan star over their private bits. The masterpiece is called Justin and Selena as One. {Socialitelife} Up, Down, Up: Staying classy as ever, New York Post likens the stock market to a prostitute's panties. {Buzzfeed} Georgia May Jagger as Margaret Thatcher Shot by Terry Richardson shoot for Harpers Bazaar: Our fave quote from the shoot: “In politics if you want anything said, ask a man. If you want anything done, ask a woman.” Go Margaret! {Harpers Bazaar}
Karen Elson and Jack White Divorce and Celebrate: The duo announced their split today, but they're going out with a bang. They're throwing a divorce party to celebrate "the making and breaking the sacred union of marriage." {Paper Mag} No Maternity Leave for Victoria Beckham: The designer is about to pop out her fourth child, but the fashion world stops for no one--Beckham says she's still hard at work on her next collection. {Glamour UK} More Shake Ups at British Vogue: Following the news that creative director Robin Derrick is leaving the glossy earlier this week, fashion director Kate Phelen has announced that she too is quitting after 18 years. Phelen has been named Creative Director of Topshop. {Telegraph} Tory Burch Wins Major Counterfeiting Lawsuit: The designer has won a $164 million case against 41 websites who were selling copies of her items. It is reportedly the largest amount ever rewarded in a counterfeiting case. {Fashion Etc}
