Location: Paris, France

Programs: Fashion Design and Technique

Annual Tuition: €13,050 to €14,400 ($14,832 to $16,367 at the current exchange rate) for overseas students; €10,900 to €12,700 for EU students.

Misc: It’s the school associated with the group that determines which fashion brands qualify as true couture houses.

Famous Alumni: Valentino Garavani, Yves Saint Laurent, Karl Lagerfeld, André Courreges, Issey Miyake, Anne Valerie Hash, Alexis Mabille, Tomas Maier, Nicole Miller, Stephane Rolland.

The Bottom Line: Founded in 1927, the prestigious French school offers world-renowned couture classes. There are baccalaureate-level programs as well, but the administrators often won't accept students until after they finish a design course elsewhere first. The school also has an exchange program with the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
