SUPIMA Design Competition 2020 - Terrence Zhou - Parsons School of Design
Growing up in China, Tong Terrence Zhou was always interested in the intersection between art, sculpture and interactive pieces around human body. Prior to fulfilling his desire to becoming a fashion designer, Zhou pursued a degree in mathematics and engineering. But the draw to fashion proved to be too much and Zhou soon enrolled in Parsons School of Design.
As an artist and a designer based in NYC, Zhou’s work has been featured in Vogue, WWD and the New York Times, and in 2017 he won a $1000 cash prize from Healthy Material Lab for proposing a sustainable material for hospital gowns.
Zhou’s theme of his Supima collection is called: Living Is a Performance, documenting the most absurd and personal moments of his life. Zhou’s goal for his collection is to control the viewer, offering an expression of unapologetic beauty with the impenetrable barrier of confusion and farce.
