This may not be Ari Seth Cohen's last foray into the elderly tool genre.

Karen Walker's new eyewear look book features Advanced Style ladies Ilona Royce Smithkin, Linda Rodin, Joyce Carpati, and Lyn Dell, and it's pretty much the best campaign ever. We sat down with Royce Smithkin and Rodin, who sat front row at Walker's show yesterday, to get the scoop on how they became models, and what they thought of Walker's latest collection.
We're pretty sure we could listen to Iris Apfel talk, or just stare at her, all day. She is just such a fascinating creature--a fact she proves yet again in a video interview with Advanced Style's Ari Seth Cohen for The Avant Garde Diaries.
Iris Apfel and other Advanced Style street style stars went on Today to talk to Matt Lauer about staying stylish and not wearing "widows' weeds."
So you know Advanced Style, Ari Seth Cohen's awesome blog and now book of stylish senior ladies? Well yesterday there was a surprise advanced style fashion show at Lincoln Center. And our street style photographer was there to capture it all.

We don't like to play favorites, but "Advanced Style" is hands-down one of our favorite style blogs. When it seems like street style has gotten somewhat contrived, when beautiful young 20-somethings are getting dressed just to be snapped and slapped online, thank goodness there's Advanced Style to showcase the style and wisdom of ladies of a certain age who get dressed only for themselves. "I started the blog to inspire people to look at aging in a new light," says Ari Seth Cohen, the site's founder. "I was best friends with my grandmother and have always had an affinity for older people. Before starting Advanced Style, I noticed a lack of inspiring and positive images of aging and I wanted to show that there are so many wonderful things that come with age." And now he's trying to take his blog to the big screen as a documentary (it's already been turned into a book). But he needs your help.

It cannot be denied that the fashion world is one of fleeting passions--remember those boots you loved so dearly last year but wouldn't dream of wearing this season? Or those "statement jeans" that now live a quiet, mournful existence at the back of your closet? Fashion is a business of come-and-go. But what about when you're longing for something with a bit more, well, longevity? This is the reasoning behind Selfridge's "Forever Shop," set to open its doors later this month. The British retailer's Wonder Room Concept Store will be completely renovated to embody a sort of timelessness that exists beneath fashion fads. The room will be curated by the department store's creative director Alannah Weston, Elle Decoration Editor-In-Chief Michelle Ogundehin, and British designer Sir Paul Smith.
