We were pretty excited this morning when we logged onto Google and were greeted by an assortment of sketches of gorgeous dresses on the home page--a tribute to iconic and very influential costume designer Edith Head, who would have been 116 years old today. It's an important recognition for Head--one of the industry's most important figures, but one whom many of today's fashion fans don't know much about--and for Google, which has never recognized a fashion designer in one of its doodles before today.
Michael Kors has always had an “itch for the Hitch” as evidenced by the omnipresence of Tippis in boxy jackets, Graces in “New Look” skirts, and Kims in icy balmacaans at his recent runway shows.
Hitchcock, the Oscar-vehicle starring Anthony Hopkins as Hitch and Scarlett Johansson as Janet Leigh, hit select theaters this past weekend. There hasn't been much fashion buzz about the film aside from Scarlett Johansson's Psycho-themed V cover, which focused more on her scream than her clothes (as well it should have), but we've always had a soft-spot for the fashion in Hitchcock's films.
