Over the past 50 years, the U.S. population has become increasingly diverse: According to the most recent census, 36% of the American population now identifies as non-Caucasian--that's in comparison to just 16% in 1970. The idea of what it means to be American and to look American this July 4, 2013, is vastly different than the July 4ths of half a century ago. So how has this changed the American beauty ideals, and, by default, the American modeling industry?
We thought Coachella ended Sunday, but at the AnOther Magazine/AnOther Man party at Milk Studios in Los Angeles on Tuesday, we felt like maybe there’s always a little Coachella in LA. Editor-in-Chief Jefferson Hack historically throws edgy, slightly unconventional, star-studded parties to fete his edgy, slightly unconventional, star-studded bi-annual publications. Partnering with Milk Studios co-owner Mazdack Rassi, Hack did not deviate from his fail-safe formula, with stars like Joshua Jackson, Orlando Bloom, Andrej Pejic, Liz Goldwyn, Sky Ferreira, Frankie Rayder, and China Chow packed into Milk’s airy and gorgeous LA digs.
Naomi Campbell, Karolina Kurkova, Alek Wek, Angela Lindvall, Hilary Rhoda, Coco Rocha. And beyond gorgeous gowns. Need we say more? Of course we do! It's all in our review of Zac Posen Spring 2013.
The second season of Project Runway All Stars just started shooting, and producers have had to deal with a special "challenge" of their own. According to the Page Six, the latest installment of Lifetime's reality series began filming early last month and was slated to have Rosie Huntington-Whiteley as its new host--that is, until she dropped out at the very last minute. Apparently, just three weeks before filming, the model/actress got the call to fly to Namibia to film the new Mad Max reboot, MM: Fury Road.

1. Do you think Angela Lindvall is going to be happy when the season is finally over? 2. Where else on television could you witness two people fighting over their individual sketching abilities? 3. Did Prada pay to have their storefront in one of those NYC skyline montages? 4. Kenley, didn’t peacocks have their moment three years ago? 5. I’m sorry Michael, but since when are Nanette Lepore’s clothes beachy and ready for the cabana?

And are his shorts getting even shorter? 4. We could listen to Anthony's stories (like the one about his grandma in the "crazy house") all day long, so can the producers start editing the show so that he gets more screen time? 5. So DID Austin Scarlett put the "star" in All Stars, as he promised he would?
Angela Lindvall In and Heidi Klum Out at Project Runway?: Despite rumors of her departure, Klum's reps have confirmed that the model is not leaving Project Runway. She won't, however, be judging the spinoff, Project Runway All-Stars. That gig is rumored to have been snagged by another, younger model--Angela Lindvall. {People and Modelinia} McQ to Open First Stand-Alone Store: Alexander McQueen's less expensive and youthful sister line is opening shop in London next spring. {WWD, Subscription Required} Ginny Weasley, Is That You?: Emma Watson isn't the only Harry Potter star glamming it up on the pages of the glossies. H&M's holiday campaign features Stella Tennant and her daughters Cecily and Jasmine, nine and seven. They're meant to embody the "spirit of togetherness" theme that H&M is pushing for the quickly-approaching holiday season. Of course, it's not the first time model mothers and their kids have worked together in campaigns and editorials. So we decided to round up some of our favorite mother-daughter moments. One of them may surprise you.
There was no denying that Prada's launch party for their new Swing sunglasses collection at Joe's Pub was the main event last night. But to get warmed up, we hit up the alice + olivia M.A.C. cosmetics collection launch at Beauty Bar first. Though it seems strange to get a manicure in the middle of a party when there's a significant risk of getting whacked in the head by an overstuffed bag or having a cocktail spilled on you, girls were lined up to get pampered. The party was chock full of models in tiny dresses, and as we made our exit, an over-tanned ex-model in the tiniest dress breezed past us smelling like Bath and Body Works. Why hello Kelly Killoren Bensimon! You are so tall! On to the next. Stepping into Prada's party at Joe's Pub was like stepping into the most fashionable jazz club. The lights were low, a jazz singer crooned, Angela Lindvall, the star of Prada's fall print campaign and brand new Stephen Meisel directed video, sat pretty in a corner by the bar, and models decked in Prada Swing sunnies and cone-head-like bouffant hair posed like beautiful aliens throughout.
Prada's throwing a party at Joe's Pub next Wednesday to celebrate its new Swing sunglasses collection, and it's destined to be a real cracker. We hear that, along with the debut of a Fall 2010 video starring Angela Lindvall and directed by Steven Meisel, Mother of Punk Nina Hagen will perform five songs off of her new gospel album. more The video features Lindvall dancing to "Fever,” the famous jazz song, performed by KaTeY J. Hagen, who recently made headlines for calling Lady Gaga a "satanic bitch" and a "pop prostitute," is sure to be donning the sunnies on stage. The new collection is inspired by those amazing glasses several of the models wore during the Fall 2010 runway show, so we're betting they'll be cat-eyed, futuristic, and sexy all at once.
