Did you know that tons of your favorite beauty products are loaded with algae? But don’t run shrieking to your bathroom to throw it all out. The green, slimy gunk--which ranges in size from single cell organisms to giant sea kelp--has tons of potential benefits for your skin.
Got a lemon of a self-tanner on your hands? It turns out an actual lemon (as in, from the grocery store) can help. Read on for that and other self tanner correction tips we got from the best bronzing experts out there--and never walk outside looking like an Oompa Loompa ever again!
Can a cream on your thighs do the same thing as a good long run? Beauty brands have come up with a new way to give you the best of both worlds.
Happy Bubble Bath Day! Yep it really is a real thing. (Seriously, who comes up with these bizarre "holidays"?) Anyway, January is the most depressing month of the year (or at least one of the coldest), so why not hop into the tub and soak for a bit? And because it is Bubble Bath Day, you should have the nicest possible soap on hand to celebrate. Here are 15 options to get you nice and sudsy.

Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Brown Thursday--all the sales days associated with Thanksgiving are starting to blend together into one big giant shopping-fest. There's been a lot of attention lately on the sexualization of children (remember Thylane Blondeau and lingerie for four-year-olds?), and now the beauty industry is under some scrutiny. We already know that a little girl can get a spray tan, but she can now apparently get a bikini wax at the age of 11. Yesterday Good Morning America (you can watch the segment on Jezebel) did a piece about beauty treatments for girls, and we were pretty surprised by the services salons (and parents) were willing to perform on kids as young as 11. We're not talking about a pretty hairdo or a manicure here--although those are offered for one-year-olds! We're talking about bikini waxes for girls who are barely pubertal. The waxing seemed the most egregious to us, so we decided to poke around a bit to see if there really is a demand for waxing services for girls. We were pretty surprised by some of the things we discovered.
Beloved spa beauty brand Bliss is 15 years old this year. (That's about the same age as Tavi, in case you were wondering.) Marcia Kilgore founded the brand back in 1996, and essentially changed the way we think about the spa experience forever. Although Kilgore sold Bliss back in 1999 (it's been owned by LVMH, Starwood Hotels and Resorts, and was acquired by Steiner Leisure last year), the brand has thrived and managed to keep its image as one of the coolest, most non-intimidating spas out there. Times have changed drastically since 1996 (for example, Friends was on the air and Botulinim toxin was still something that could kill you), and while the Bliss girl character and her cleverly-named products are still *ahem* blissfully familiar, a lot has changed in the industry. We had an email chat with Wendy Allred, Bliss' Director of Training & Education, about the brand, how things have changed in the spa world in the last 15 years, and the must-follow skin care advice she has for women of all ages.
