From Inès de la Fressange to Charlotte Gainsbourg, French fashion has always embraced the rebellious privileged classes--it’s an Amélie-esque world both raunchy and aristocratic, wrapped in nothing but Chanel tweed and macarons. Which is not to say this perspective hasn’t led to beautiful imagery. But to locals, it might feel a tad slanted. Dior’s runway might be all-white, but France is a multicultural nation. From the May ‘68 student revolts to recent angst-led riots in the banlieues, resonant street life occupies a key place in collective memories. The latest issue of Antidote--an annual coffee table-like magazine shot entirely by a single photographer—-focuses on the street. Rather than being a spectator of ‘high’ fashion, Antidote celebrates urban life as something that ignites sartorial energy.

H&M has been really busy lately. On the heels of the release of their Beyonce-fronted campaign and their annual sustainability report, comes more exciting news from the retailer: A new collection inspired by four of the industry's most recognizable (and beautiful) faces--Joan Smalls, Daphne Groeneveld, Lindsey Wixson, Liu Wen--set to hit stores mid April, Vogue UK is reporting.
Yes, models work really hard, traipsing to endless go-sees and 4am call times. But there sure are some good perks--I mean, besides being blessed with impossibly good looks. The models at the top of the heap, many of whom have become friends and muses to designers over the years, are gifted some pretty amazing swag. We chatted with the likes of Karlie Kloss, Jessica Stam, and Cara Delevingne backstage this past New York fashion week about the best freebies they've ever received from a designer. (Hint: Marc Jacobs is very generous.) Prepare to be green with envy.
Joan Smalls opened the show. Cara Delevingne, Arizona Muse, and Daphne Groeneveld soon followed. Ashley Olsen, Emma Roberts and Chloe Grace Moretz were there in the front row. It was arguably the buzziest show kicking off Paris fashion week and it was all for H&M.
We chatted up a bunch of fashion industry people today to see how they're prepping for the storm, how they'll dress, and whether or not they're worried. From Tim Blanks' plans to buy Timberlands to Cara Delevingne's concern that it will turn into "fashion Lord of the Flies," here's what the industry thinks of Nemo:

Gisele's New Baby: No, the supermodel is not expecting again with hubby Tom Brady--not that we know of, anyway! The Brazilian stunner was snapped bottle feeding a baby elephant on a visit to an elephant orphanage during a recent trip to Kenya. Bündchen took to her Facebook page to rally fans' support: "We need to speak up for these animals or they will continue to be in danger," she posted. {People} Fashion's Fishbowl: Daphne Groeneveld covers April's Vogue Korea, holding a fishbowl--an analogy for how the fashion world is running these days? It probably isn't that deep, but we can't wait to dive into this spread. (Puns!) {TFS} McQueen's Website Relaunches: Exciting news for Alexander McQueen fans (so, everyone). The brand has revamped its website, which includes a separate scarf "boutique" with exclusive colorways of the infamous skull scarf, and plans to feature the entire archive of videos and photos of all McQueen runway shows. The website will combine the main line with secondary line McQ so now it's possible to shop both in one place; in addition, the digital flagship has extended e-commerce to cover the EU. A "My McQueen" feature allows users to save their favorite images from the runway and advertisement as well as product, making for one awesome wish list experience. {Fashionista Inbox}

Models spend a lot of time in hair and makeup chairs at shows and for shoots, and they have access to some of the most talented hair stylists and makeup artists in the world. It stands to reason that they've picked up a few beauty pointers along the way, so this fashion month we decided to ask some of the best models in the business what tricks they've learned. We chatted with Jourdan Dunn, Coco Rocha, Andrej Pejic and many more backstage at shows in New York, Milan, Paris and London. Click through to learn all their beauty secrets.
Jason Wu is obviously a hot commodity right now because of his Target collection; his name-recognition is at a high point. But let's not forget what he does best: He makes uber-luxurious clothes. Yesterday's show may been one of Jason Wu's strongest shows, both literally and figuratively. I heard over and over about how the Jason Wu girl is "strong" this season. The high ponytails (secured with bondage tape procured from a sex shop, no less) were meant to look like a horse's tail. Lead hair stylist Odile Gilbert said, "It's a very strong ponytail because the girl at Jason Wu is a fighter." The runway show confirmed the suspicions I had backstage that she could definitely kick my ass, and look chic doing it. (We hope Shailene Woodley, sitting front row with the Elle team, was paying attention. She needs a victory on the red carpet.) The show started with drum beats and a huge red door, meant to look like the door of the Forbidden City.
Day two of NYFW was a breeze, with fun shows from Jason Wu, Rag & Bone, and Kate Spade. What did we see? Well, we caught up with the unbelievably gorgeous Hanneli Mustaparta at Rag & Bone, saw Coco Rocha practicing her interview skills at Jason Wu, and verified that Daphne Groeneveld is just as perfect in real life as she is in print. See NYFW from our eyes after the jump!
Holy mackerel, it's been a good day for Spring 2012 ad campaigns! Not only do we have even more pictures of a scantily-clad David Beckham to drool ov
It happens every year: Our ever-growing pile of fashion magazines inches higher with each passing month, and by the time December rolls around, we can barely sift through the hundreds of stylish images we bookmarked for inspiration. 2011 was no exception, and in a year that celebrated retro supermodels, androgyny, vivid colors, and plenty of experimentation in the beauty department, choosing our favorites was particularly difficult. The best editorials of the year ran the gamut from huge ensemble casts of blue-chip models styled by greats like Katie Grand and Carine Roitfeld, to intimate, one-on-one portraits of our favorite girls like Lindsey Wixson and Daria Werbowy. The acid brights that dominated the spring collections allowed for some pretty trippy trend stories last season, but the fall glossies featured much moodier imagery, with a number of gorgeous spreads in black and white. Here are the editorials from 2011 that will stay tacked up on our walls and fill our inspiration boards well into the new year—and beyond.
It appears that the first Versace for H&M TV commercial has been released in full and it might be the most fun TV commercial we've seen since Chanel
Last night Versace and H&M pulled out all the stops--and we mean all of them--to put on a runway show and party to celebrate their collaboration, which hits stores on November 19. Pier 57 was transformed into "Versace Hall" complete with a mirror-walled cocktail lounge (made to resemble Versace's show space in Milan) and a wood paneled runway in a pattern that seemed to mimic Versace's Greek fret motif (and also ensured everyone got a front row seat). Everyone except Anna Wintour was there (and maybe she was and we just didn't see her?): performers Prince and Nicki Minaj (wearing an enormous green wig and sequined Versace for H&M) sat to watch the show; celebs, all dressed in h-to-t Versace for H&M, included Blake Lively, Uma Thurman, Jessica Alba, Chace Crawford, Chloe Moretz, Jennifer Hudson and Alan Cumming; there were designers aplenty from Joseph Altuzarra to Alexander Wang to Christopher Kane; in keeping with the collection's '90s theme, '90s supermodels Linda Evangelista and Helena Christensen were there; and there were too many stylists and editors and socialites to count. "It looks good," Minaj told us about the collection as she walked the red carpet. "All the stuff they brought to my room today I was like, 'I'm keeping that!' Minaj confessed that she fell in her platform Versaces during the filming for her Superbass video but she said, "I'm not taking them off, fashion is pain, and I'm keeping them on, and Superbass went on to be such a big song, so maybe Versace's good luck."
For the first time in two years, V magazine is featuring actual models instead of celebrities on its next edition, which hits newsstands on November

To say we love LOVE is an understatement. We're kinda obsessed. Watching the covers for issue six trickle in was half the fun, so we're a bit sad all eight LOVE covers have been revealed. All total we've got Elle Fanning, Chloe Moretz, Hailee Steinfeld, Lara Stone, Kristen McMenamy, Mariacarla Boscono, Nyasha Matonhodze and Daphne Groeneveld all crying, sans makeup, on the covers of the coveted fashion book. So now the question is: which one is our favorite? Which one is yours? The model covers and accompanying editorial is shot by Mert and Marcus, and styled by Katie Grand and Panos Yiapanis. Take a look.
The LOVE buzz just won't stop! Elle Fanning and Chloe Moretz's covers debuted on models.com this week, which has only fueled the LOVE speculation: who else would cover the beloved fashion book? While we guessed that Hailee Steinfeld would be next (Elle+Chloe+Hailee is kind of a thing), we were certain we'd have to wait until Friday to find out. But no! Fashion's favorite man about town Derek Blasberg convinced Katie Grand to spill the beans last night at dinner. Lucky for us, Derek couldn't keep the news to himself, so he Tweeted it around 9pm last night. Thanks D! According to Derek's Tweets the models for the other five unreleased LOVE covers are:
